The Ahmadiyya Muslim Students' Association at George Mason University (GMU), announced plans to sponsor an interfaith conference on April 7, 2010.

The conference will explore the question: “If God exists, then why is there suffering?”

The three hours event will start at 4:00 PM in Enterprise Hall Room 80 at the Fairfax Campus.

The participants of the event will discuss the question of suffering and its compatibility with the concept of a ‘Just and Merciful God.’

The organizers have invited many leaders from various schools of thought, including from Atheism, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Islam to present their points of view.

“With all the suffering in the world, many question whether it's even possible to believe in God,” explains Saud Iqbal, the President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association at GMU.

“The great calamities have reignited the question in the minds of many about the existence of God."

The event organizers expect a rich discussion where the speakers will have the opportunity to present their individual perspective and from their own understanding of their faiths.

The presentations will be followed by a Q/A session.
