Instead of conducting interfaith dialogue of understanding and promoting unity and brotherhood on a day we should be reflecting and healing, the pastor seeks to create chaos.

The war on terror is really a war on extremism. It is unfortunate that we have to fight that extremism within our nation as well. All of us are still trying to heal from the tragedy of 9/11 and not live in fear of each other. Yet, sadly, the Dove Outreach Center in Gainsville, Fa. is seeking to divide us even further and has chosen a most sensitive date in our country's history to do so. I recognize that the actions of Pastor Terry Jones to burn the Quran are not in line with the true teachings of Christianity. In fact, Pastor Jones' actions are the same extreme behavior our nation witnessed by the fanatics who attacked our country on 9/11.
Instead of conducting interfaith dialogue of understanding and promoting unity and brotherhood on a day we should be reflecting and healing, the pastor seeks to create chaos. As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, I am a Muslim and an American for peace who asks Pastor Jones to stop hijacking Christianity from its true teachings so that we are all protected from what happens when extremists use faith to terrorize a nation.

In London thousands of people gathered at the Ahmadiyya Muslim mosque, in Morden, to hear Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the world head of the community, denounce the US pastor.
ReplyDelete"Religious extremism, be it Christian extremism, Muslim extremism, or any other kind is never a true reflection of the religion," he said.
"A number of churches have condemned this act. There is nothing wrong with intellectual or theological debate, but this should be conducted within the bounds of decency and tolerance. Instead, what we are seeing is hatred being spread."
