It was the beautiful face of Islam, more than anything else, that was terrorized by these self-proclaimed Muslims.

H.P. Lovecraft, an American author, once said, "From even the greatest of horrors irony is seldom absent."

The tragic and sinister shootings in Paris, France prove this to be true.

Ironic because the cowardly terrorists, in their misguided attempts to defend the honor of the Holy Prophet of Islam, actually promoted the vitriol they sought to squelch by bringing attention to the distasteful cartoons of the satirical magazine.

Ironic because the Holy Prophet of Islam, whom they supposedly vindicated, would not have condoned such actions because his response to attacks on his faith, throughout his life, was one of forbearance and forgiveness.

And ironic because it was the beautiful face of Islam, more than anything else, that was terrorized by these self-proclaimed Muslims.

As a Muslim, I respond to the satirists and the terrorists with ink, not gunpowder. And therein is the ultimate irony.
