The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community held its 69th annual convention in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is the oldest annual convention of its kind in the United States and is still going strongly. I was also in attendance at the convention, as a member of the community. As the founder of the Community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, had stated this event was for all members from across the country to come together in unity, in brotherhood, in good spirit, to gain knowledge and spirituality.

Through the speeches and presentations given, the scholars of this great faith get a chance to shine light on the true teachings of Islam and bring people of different colors, races and ethnicities together. This blessed convention houses more than just speeches. Set up in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex was a blood drive being held by the American Red Cross. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has donated more than 40,000 bags of blood in the time following 9/11 through its Muslims for Life campaign.

Being in this convention gave me a feeling that an individual would have to feel for himself, but was universal among all attendees. But most of all, those in attendance left with a feeling of self-reflection and self-development.
