Mr. Yakubu Mubarak, president of Brong Ahafo Regional branch of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth, has advised Ghanaian youth to refrain from acts that could breach the peace before, during and after Election 2012.

He noted that the youth,"who are to be educated to become leaders in future are in prison. The youth need to concentrate on their education and avoid acts that could send them to prison."

Mr Mubarak, who gave the advice after the association had donated gari, maize, sugar to inmates of the Sunyani Prisons at the weekend, expressed shock at the number of young people in prison.

He appealed to the Ghana Prison Service to ensure that the country's prisons became reformation facilities and not places for only punishing offenders.

Mr Mubarak said the donation formed part of the association's annual activities to show kindness to the needy.

Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Esther Kofitse, who received the items, thanked the association for the gesture.
