USA: Dallas Ahmadi Muslims Host 3rd Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner


One of the highlights of the event was the charity donation of $5,000 to the North Texas Food Bank . Ms. Tammy Bargar received the donation from the President of the Dallas Chapter of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Suhail Kausar.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Dallas hosted their neighbors and friends of different faiths at the Third Annual Interfaith Dinner on Saturday July 11, 2015.

Speakers from different faiths discussed common traditions of fasting and how this can promote mutual harmony and understanding across the societies.

One of the highlights of the event was the charity donation of $5,000 to the North Texas Food Bank . Ms. Tammy Bargar received the donation from the President of the Dallas Chapter of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Suhail Kausar.

Kausar highlighted the community’s efforts for welfare and betterment of the society and apprised the audience of the various projects the community has undertaken over the years on regular basis, such as, Muslims for life blood drives annually to commemorate victims of 9/11, Muslims for peace pamphlet drive to educate neighbors about the true teachings of Islam which is peace, harmony and mutual understanding through dialogue, Muslims for Loyalty campaign to celebrate 4th July.

The president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Mansoor Rana, also used the opportunity to highlight the youth participation in various community charity drives, such as Feed the Hungry program and participation in Meals on Wheels.

Ms Bargar thanked the community and informed of the various ways people can help others in dire need. She informed that money donated will be spent in the North Texas area.

Texas Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who represents the state's 30th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, sent a letter of recognition and appreciation on this occasion.

Also present at the Iftar dinner were Chief of Allen Police Department, Brian Harvey, and officer Dan represented Chief of Plano Police Department. They appreciated the invitation and hailed the community’s outreach efforts.

Later after breaking of fast, all guests enjoyed delicious buffet style dinner along with discussions on current affairs.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will celebrate Eid, the end of Ramadan Festival on July 18th, 2015 at the community mosque at 1850 Hedgcoxe road, Allen, Texas.
