Sri Lanka: Qur’an Sinhala Translation gifted to Kandy's City Mayor, Peradeniya University, Kingswood College


While reading our covering letter, the Deputy Mayor was amazed to know about Holy Qur’an having been translated into 75 languages by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

A four member delegation of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Sri Lanka (AMJSL), comprising Mr.A. Abdul Aziz, National Director Faith Outreach, AMJSL; Moulavi A.B. Musthaq Ahmad, Chief Missionary, AMJSL; Moulavi K.M. Munir, Missionary Pasyala; and Mr. Faleel Jiffry visited Sri Lanka’s Hill Country Capital Kandy on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

The delegation visited to Peradeniya University known as Garden University situated in the heart of the city and was welcomed by Mrs. Kothambika, Secretary to Vice Chancellor and accepted Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with due respect.

Mrs. Kothambika expressed her amazement that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at has translated the Holy Qur’an into 75 languages.

A copy of the Qur’an was also presented to the university library, which was accepted by Senior Assistant Librarian Mrs.Gunasekara.

The delegation visited to Kingswood College – a leading College in Kandy and met Deputy Principal Mrs. Nawaratnam. She welcomed the delegation and listened attentively to the introduction of the Jama’at. She was delighted to accept the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an and said that the Jama’at name will be imprinted in the donation.

The delegation also visited Kandy Municipal Council and met Deputy Mayor His Worship Sena Dissanayake who accepted Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an on behalf of Mayor. While reading our covering letter, the Deputy Mayor was amazed to know about Holy Qur’an having been translated into 75 languages by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He was briefed about the Jama’at.

The delegation visited Public Library, Kandy and donated Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an to the Chief Clerk.

The delegation gave Sinhala Translation of the book ‘The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam’ with Peace Message in Sinhala and English to all of them.

"People should read and understand this Holy Book," expressed Mr A.A. Aziz. "Tthat is our prayer and wish."
