The local Muslim community gathered on Saturday in Cumberland County to condemn a Florida church's threats to burn the Koran.

A spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community says the group is happy the Florida pastor listened to the voices of reason to not burn the Islamic holy book.

He also says the controversy provides Muslims an opportunity to show their true feelings and beliefs.

"Our motto is love for all, hatred for none and that's the motto we'd like to promote all over America and elsewhere in the world, and we want to show that by our actions," said Mubashir Mumtaz with Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA.

Mumtaz added that Islam and the Muslim community denounces violence at any level, and that there's no excuse for the September 11th attacks that killed innocent people.
