A Toronto-based youth association is hoping to dispel misconceptions about Islam and the Qur'an by hosting an open house in Windsor this week.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association Canada has met with Canadians across the county over the last few months to promote peace, condemn terrorism and raise awareness about Islam.

The open house will be at the Forest Glade Community Centre on Thursday.

"Our way of reacting to Pastor Terry Jones' burning the Qur'an is to create a global awareness among people so they can know what Islam actually is," said AMYAC member Faran Rabbani.

"Within the last eight months we have reached out to almost one million people and I'm confident we'll be able to spread Islam's message of peace to one million easily within this month."
