There is an extreme shortage of blood, says Dr Taha Shaik who serves as the Director of Social Services for the  Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Miami.

"And it is one of those precious items, you never know when you are going to need it and when you do, you really hope there is enough reserve for you to potentially save lives," he adds.

Dr. Shaikh explains that Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is present throughout the United States and is holding nationwide blood drives ‘Muslims for Life’ all across the country.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, with a goal of collecting 10,000 units of blood. Each unit of blood is capable of saving three lives. Blood is split up into three products – platelets, red cells and plasma, and each of those has unique properties. With 10,000 units of blood collected and hopefully more, with the support of the community, there is potential for saving at least 30,000 lives and that’s ten times the number of lives lost on 9/11.

Dr. Shaikh want people to know about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and separate the acts of terror that occurred on 9/11 from the Islamic faith itself because they are not representative of Islam. ‘Muslims for Life’ blood drives have been scheduled at three locations on different dates in South Florida. We invite able donors to support this drive and register at www.MulsimsForLife.org.’
