USA: 9/11 Blood-shedding - Muslims for Life

This year, to honor those 3000 innocent souls, American Muslims are shedding their own blood to save 30,000 lives in America. And in my opinion, this truly is an effort to honor all the victims of religious terrorism across the world.

With the 10th anniversary of 9/11, all one can think of is blood shedding and wastage of human life. Who can forget that misfortunate morning when extremists took 3000 innocent lives in a matter of few minutes. After 9/11, each subsequent morning brought fear of more blood-shed across the world.

Two wars together with countless suicide attacks, target killings and bomb blasts have made our world “go red.” Not a week goes by in Pakistan when a suicide attack does not take lives of innocent civilians. Their work places, mosques, churches, schools, universities, residences, all are in a constant threat of terror activities. In last 10 years, Pakistan lost nearly 5000 people in over 290 suicide attacks and target killings. This makes Pakistan to have been affected the most by 9/11. 7/7 attacks on London underground, Madrid attacks, Fort hood shooting, recent Oslo bombing and hundreds other incidents, all in the name of religion, take us back to that gloomy morning 10 years ago.

This year, to honor those 3000 innocent souls, American Muslims are shedding their own blood to save 30,000 lives in America. And in my opinion, this truly is an effort to honor all the victims of religious terrorism across the world. May they all rest in peace. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is launching “Muslims for Life,” a nationwide campaign to honor the victims of 9/11 on its 10th anniversary and uphold the message that Islam values the sanctity of life. During the month of September, we are holding blood drives all over the United States in collaboration with churches, synagogues, mosques, and other community organizations. Our goal is to collect 10,000 units of blood—which can help save 30,000 lives. So we invite you to join us as we shed our blood this September.

On September 11, 2011, we are hosting one such blood drive in at University of Richmond School of Law from 9am to 3pm. We encourage you and your friends to join us by registering here.

On this year's 9/11, all we can think of is bloodshed again, but to save human life this time.
