Comment: Freedom of speech should not result in a world destroyed
Yes, of course, Muslims should protest peacefully, but as Mirza Masroor Ahmad, worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has said, “Let it not be that in the name of freedom of speech the peace of the entire world be destroyed.”

It is a sad day when Americans laud “freedom of speech“ as a right, devoid of responsibility. It, too, is subject to common sense.
I wish Americans could understand that all Muslims have an unparalleled love for the prophet Muhammad. Due to this love for his pure character, the video, “The Innocence of Muslims,” is offensive to all of us. There is no doubt in my mind that the “freedom of speech” of these sorts of movie makers should be limited.
The Gainesville Times said, “They hate us because of our freedom.” No. Just because one movie maker hides behind the freedom flag does not clean up the insulting content of his film.
If anyone dislikes a particular religion, the correct course of action should be reasoned debate, dialogue and research — not insults. Christians from a variety of sects have successfully employed these skills since the split of the Catholic Church.
Yes, of course, Muslims should protest peacefully, but as Mirza Masroor Ahmad, worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has said, “Let it not be that in the name of freedom of speech the peace of the entire world be destroyed.”
I hope and pray that respect for other religions will soon be the norm. And, I hope that anyone who loves his or her own religion will agree with me.
