Being a proud American Muslim, I condemn the rise of terrorist activities around the world (i.e., the Boston bombings and the U.K. soldier beheading). Actions of those who are committing these heinous crimes against humanity unfortunately speak louder than the message of peace and love that Islam is meant to spread.
The responsibility of teaching young Muslims about loving their neighbors and their nation falls on the Muslim communities. It is apparent that not much is being done. For example, in the Buffalo and Rochester area, other than Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (which holds symposiums, open houses and open dialogues on a regular basis) no one else has come forward to defend peaceful Islam.
I challenge all of the communities. It’s never too late.
