Perspective: Please hear us

Hailing from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1889, we have well over a century been condemning such barbaric violence in the name of Islam and will continue to do so.

As a naturalized Canadian citizen who came here when I was five, whose great, great grandfather was stoned to death by Islamist extremists in Afghanistan, I have felt the pain inflicted by extremists first hand.

But I must assert that the London soldier killing committed in the name of Islam had absolutely nothing to do with the faith itself.

In the Qur'an, it is written that, "if you kill one person it is as if you have killed all of humanity," (5: 32).

Hailing from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1889, we have well over a century been condemning such barbaric violence in the name of Islam and will continue to do so.

We hope our fellow Canadians hear us amid the extremist rabble.
