Residents clubbed together last weekend to clear up the streets of Croydon.

More than 180 bags of rubbish were cleared from neighbourhoods as part of May’s Great Croydon Clean Up event.

The event was organised by Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell and run as part of Croydon Council’s Keep It Clean campaign.

There were sixteen groups out and about clearing up rubbish over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They covered areas from Kenley to Woodside.

Volunteers were provided with bags and litter-pickers by the council.

Out of the 178 bags that were filled and taken away by the council’s contractors 41 could be recycled.
