UK: Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Group Spreads Winter Cheers

A local youth charity has been spreading some seasonal joy over the past week by visiting elderly homes, children's hospital wards, food banks and homeless centres.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association volunteers from the Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham visited Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Rotherham General Hospital, and St Wilfrids Centre for homeless in Sheffield, Doncaster Food Bank, Darnal View Care Home in Sheffield and The Well Wish Society Barnsley.
Volunteers delivered gifts to sick children, spent time with the elderly, provided food banks with extra supplies, and ran homeless feeding sessions.
The initiative is part of the AMYA's national 'Muslims for Humanity' campaign in which its' volunteers are aiming to bring a smile to the vulnerable and sick over the winter. The charity also has in place an emergency relief team to help those impacted by the challenging weather conditions.
Shahzad Ahmad Athar, a local AMYA youth leader said, ''As a youth charity we try to educate young people that each of us has a social responsibility to help our local communities, especially those challenged by sickness, homelessness and loneliness. We are trying to do this by getting out into the community and offering our time, smiles and some simple gifts.
''I was extremely touched by the warm response of the local community and by the truly inspirational people we had the pleasure of meeting and serving. Thank you!,'' Shahzad Ahmad Athar further asserted.
The ‘Muslims for Humanity’ initiative was started in order to actively demonstrate that Islam calls on Muslims to aspire towards becoming the very best members of society they can be.
