The worldwide head of the Muslim Ahmadiyya community is coming to Neufahrn. A right-winged party is planning a demonstration against the opening of the mosque.

The last preparations are going on at the construction site in the Massenhausener Street: On Whit Monday, 9th June, Caliph Hadhrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad will inaugurate the new Al-Mahdi mosque. The worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will come for the first time to Bavaria for the event. Up to 400 guests are expected for the festivity in the evening in Neufahrn’s grammar school.

The religious community has a prayer house in the north of Neufahrn since many years where by now about 200 women and men from Freising and Munich gather. Now the building was reconstructed and built-on extensively. Particularly a new nine meter high minaret made it into a “real” mosque. This is of symbolic character and is supposed to turn the attention of people to Islam, the building developers explained. There will be no public prayer calls.

In the meantime it has surfaced that the right party “Die Freiheit” [The freedom] is planning a demonstration for Monday. Mayor Franz Heilmeier now wants to talk with other religious communities and churches about a possible counter demonstration. You should “not leave the field to such groups” and “not bring the freedom of religion in our place into discredit”, he emphasized in the local council meeting.
