The event is so UCR students and others realize that ISIS’s murders “do not represent Islam.”
UC Riverside’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association is hosting a forum Jan. 28 that is titled “Stop the CrISIS: Is There Any Difference Between ISIS and Islam?”
Taha Majeed, president of the group, said it’s crucial for UCR students and others to understand that the murderous acts of ISIS “do not represent Islam and what they’re doing doesn’t represent humanity.”
The forum is from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Highlander Union Building 302 South on the UCR campus. Harris Zafar, national spokesman for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA and the author of “Demystifying Islam,” will give the main address. There also will be a question-and-answer session.
Ahmadi Muslims, as followers of Ahmadiyya Islam are called, have themselves been victims of terrorist attacks in several countries because of beliefs that many Muslims consider heretical. A three-day Ahmadi convention in Chino last month included a special session on ISIS.
