25 Years of Partnership with ‘Clean Up Australia Day’

More than 1200 volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association all over Australia took part in ‘Clean Up Australia Day 2015’

On Sunday 1st of March 2015 all branches of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia, throughout the country, enthusiastically took part in Clean Up Australia Day activities. Teams were formed at ‘Bait-ul-Huda’ mosque Sydney, ‘Bait-ul-Salam’ mosque Melbourne, ‘Bait-ul-Masroor’ mosque Queensland and Mehmood mosque in South Australia. The mosques also hosted the volunteers with tea and snacks prior to the commencement of the clean-up work.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia registered a total of nine clean-up sites allowing local Ahmadi Muslims from across the country to register take part in the activities. In the ‘Most Volunteers’ category, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association’s Marsden Park community held the first position overall with 355 volunteers registered. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Queensland and Victoria South branches held second and third positions respectively in the same category. Likewise in the ‘Top Fundraising Clean Up Site’ the first three positions were also held by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia’s National President Imam Inam-ul-Haq Kauser said:

“Clean Up Australia Day is a great initiative and we have always been part of this wonderful event. Islam emphasises personal and societal cleanliness and it teaches us to be part of every good in society.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia’s youth auxiliary branch formally known as ‘Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Australia’ initiated ‘Muslims for Good of Mankind’ national campaign, which was also a focal point of the media coverage. National President of the Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Mr Waqas Ahmed said:

“Our focus is our Muslim youth…and under this campaign we have plans to engage our youth in projects such as Clean-up Australia Day, tree planting and charity walks all over Australia. Our campaign aims to organize our humanitarian and charity efforts all over Australia. It will present our youth as a model for the rest of the wider community who are engaged in such noble projects…and it’s a great need of the time”

From Brisbane Channel 9 and Newzulu published lead stories about the Ahamdiyya Muslim Association’s clean-up activities in Queensland. Along the same lines, 2SER Sydney and SBS Radio broadcasted the Association’s clean-up activity and plans for the day. Questions such as why the Assocation chooses to take part in the Clean-up initiative on an annual basis and how it plans on helping their youth in bringing them closer to the envoronment and to the wider community were posed.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia has been in partnership with Clean Up Australia Day since its very early days. The Association actively participates in initiatives such as Clean Up Australia Day, Red Cross Door Knock Appeals and blood donations and engages its youth and all other members for their reformation for a better tomorrow.

This year alone clean up activity on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association’s registered sites all over the country hosted more than 1200 volunteers from all ages and backgrounds.
