Several Chicagoland Ghanaian associations represented by Ghana National Council of Chicago hosted Imam Shamshad A. Nasir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) USA, at their monthly meeting to discuss coordination of the various programs by their organizations.
Imam Shamshad thanked the attendees and explained his unique affection for the people of Ghana where he was stationed for four years as a missionary at Kofuredoa from 1978 to 1982. Imam said Ghanians are a great nation and the Ahmadiyya Mission in Ghana is serving them in the fields of health and Education.
Imam Shamshad invited the group to make use of the space available at Bait’ul Jamaay Mosque of the Ahmadiyya Mulim Community in Glen Ellyn, IL, for their meetings and functions. Imam Shamshad suggested they dress according to their culture and traditions when visiting the Mosque.
Several members from the Ghanaian associations spoke to thank Imam Shamshad for the introduction and invite. Organizer Steve Dei of the council said that although their 58th Ghanaian Independence Day celebrations are already planned, the group would love to consider the Glen Ellyn mosque venue for their future functions.
In the end president Ebenezer Antwi-Nsiah thanked Imam Shamshad for addressing the council and promised to interact for future events and invited the Imam and Ahmadi members to the Ghanaian Independence Day celebrations.
The visit was organized by Mr. Sadik Aboagye, an Ahmadi Muslim who is also a member of the Ghanaian organization. Hassan Wahab and Ismail Anani of the AMC who are from Ghana introduced Imam Shamshad to the council and its president, Mr. Ebenezer Antwi-Nsiah.
