Sri Lanka: Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement Founder Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne presented Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation


To all of them, along copy of the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with some other literatures including Peace Messages in English as well as Sinhala were presented.

A four member delegation from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sri Lanka (AMJSL) comprising Mr.A. Abdul Aziz, Press Secretary and National Director Faith Outreach – AMJSL, Moulavi A.B. Musthaq Ahmad – Chief Missionary (AMJSL) and Murabbi Javid Raheem, visited Panadura – a town in down south of Sri Lanka recently.

The delegation met Dr. A.T. Aryaratne, the Founder of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka at his office in Moratuwa where he welcomed the delegation with full respect. He is now 85. The Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka, a grass-roots humanitarian organization that has been active throughout Sri Lanka since 1958. Dr. A.T. Aryaratne received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership in 1969, the Gandhi Peace Prize from the government of India in 1996, the Niwano Peace PrizeKing Beaudoin Award and other international honors for his work in peace making and village development.

The delegation explained about the claim of the Ahmadiyya founder and the Promised Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, whose advent was foretold by the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He very attentively listened about all this as if he knows all these things for the first time. While accepting Holy Qur’an, he said he will start reading this holy book from that day.

He was also briefed about the tireless efforts being made by the Khalifa and the Ahmadiyya worldwide leader, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, by spreading the true teachings of Islam through various means, particularly addressing lawmakers at Capitol Hill, EU Parliament, in Ireland Parliament, and recently the Dutch Parliament. He was informed about the gist of His Holiness' address during the recent Dutch Parliament visit.

The delegation on their way to Panadura visited Katubedde Public Library and the librarian Msd. Himali Karunaeatne welcomed the delegation. She accepted the copy of Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation with utmost respect.

Then the delegation proceeded to Panadura where they met Principal of Royal College Mr. Mohan who showed much interest on Jama’at matters.

He was told about the lack of peace in the world for which Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at’s role to promote peace in the world. He was told about the tireless efforts being made by the Khalifa and the Ahmadiyya worldwide leader, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, by spreading the true teachings of Islam through various means, particularly addressing lawmakers at Capitol Hill, EU Parliament, in Ireland Parliament, and recently the Dutch Parliament. He was informed about the gist of His Holiness' address during the recent Dutch Parliament visit.

The delegation further pointed out about the unique feature of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and said that this is the only Community which has Spiritual Leadership and termed as ““ONE COMMUNITY – ONE LEADER’ and added that the Community’s motto is ’LOVE FOR ALL; HATRED FOR NONE’.

The delegation also met the Principal of Agamethi Girls’ High School and while accepting the gift of Holy Qur’an, she described it as Very Valuable one.

When the delegation met Mr. Somathilake, Principal of Sri Sumangala Boys’ High School, he expressed his willingness to see the unity between Muslims and Buddhist. He also highlighted his various efforts for this purpose and said that this Holy Book also being a bridge between the communities of different faiths.

In Panadura Town, the delegation visited various schools namely Rawatathawatte Roman Catholic school, Mahanama Navodya Vidyalaya, St. John’s College, Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Sri Sumangala Balika Maha Vidyalaya.

The delegation also donated Holt Quran Sinhala Translation to Public Library, Panadura.

To all of them, along copy of the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with some other literatures including Peace Messages in English as well as Sinhala were presented. Moreover, the Sinhala Translation of the book ‘The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam’ written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Islam, also presented.
