Muslims in Leamington are inviting people of all faiths and backgrounds to visit their mosque and discuss any questions or fears they may have about their religion.

The Coffee, Cake and Islam events have been taking place at the mosque in Adelaide Road on Wednesdays for the last eight months.

But, in light of the recent terror attack at Westminster, the Leamington branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association is raising more awareness about the open evenings which run from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Dr Tahir Nasser, who is the co-Imam at the mosque, said: “This is not just for people who have concerns about radical Islam but for those who maybe have some questions about us and want to learn more about the religion.

“It is our job not to let extremists write our own narrative and not to define us.

“For us this is about dispelling ignorance and standing up for our faith.

“We do that not through violence but by talking to people and through peaceful means.”

Members of the association where among those who held at vigil in response to the terror attack in London which took place on March 22.

The attack left six people, including four members of the public, a police officer and attacker Khalid Masood dead and about 50 other people injured.

The vigil, one of many up and down the country, took place in Balsall Common last week.
