MUSLIMS proudly selling poppies have been the victims of vile abuse.

Members of a branch of Islam called Ahmadiyya say they have been called infidels and traitors.

Naveed Uz Zafar, whose uncle served in the RAF, was verbally attacked outside London’s Euston Station last week.

He said: “This man loudly accused us of betraying Muslims.”

Dr Ijaz Rehman – a leader of the Ahmadiyya sect, which raised £100,000 last year – said: “We have all heard the calls of infidel and the suggestion that poppies are somehow racist. But it’s rubbish.

“Our motto is: ‘Love for all, hatred for none.’ As we live in this country, are protected by this country, then we are loyal to this country, as many of our ancestors were.”

Many young people said last week they would not wear a poppy because they believe it glorifies war.
