Following murder and kidnapping, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan live in daily fear awaiting the next attack and possible murder.

Since March 8, 2010 families of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community have been targeted by the Jama’at-ud-Da’awa resulting in kidnappings and most recently in death. As Muslims who believe in the Messiah, members of the community have been subjected to constant fears and have been advised by the local police to change their daily routines as outward threats of violence towards the members continue.
Pamphlets targeting certain families within Faisalabad are being distributed in the city by Jama’at-ud-Da’awa, a group propagating extremism towards members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

In March, two children were targeted and kidnapped due to their Ahmadi beliefs, yet were returned once a large ransom was paid. However in April sadly the fate of three Ahmadi business men shot in a crowded public location resulted in death with no leads on their murderers to date. Such violence has been a pattern within Pakistan threatening the civil liberties and rights of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to live and prosper in peace within Pakistan. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a Muslim minority group that has been persecuted for over 50 years in Pakistan, based on their belief in accepting the Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian.

Dr. Nasim Rehmatullah vice-president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA states, "Such continued acts of terrorism subject all minorities within Pakistan towards extremism and perpetuates instability within the region and their fight against terrorism. Pakistan's law officials and politicians should directly condemn such acts of violence and promote safety for all its citizens. Their silence only bolsters further acts of violence."

About the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans over 190 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1921, is the first American-Muslim organization.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
