The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended the remand of the alleged terrorists involved in attacking the Ahmadiyya community’s places of worship.
Justice Rana Muhammad Yousaf extended the remand by 10 days of Asmatullah alias Muaz and Abdullah Muhammad and directed the police to present them again in court on June 24.
The accused were brought to the ATC under heavy guard by officers of the Central Investigation Agency (CIA). The court was completely surrounded by police commandos with the road leading up to the ATC being cordoned off before the arrival of the suspects.
No one was allowed to enter the courtroom during the hearing of the case. Both suspects were arrested after attacks in Model Town and Garhi Shahu. CIA SP Umar Virk requested the court to extend the remand so that the police can further conduct their investigations. The court accepted Virk’s plea and extended the remand.
