USA: Muslims also revere Jesus Christ

Despite our differences, interreligious harmony can still be attained if we stress our similarities. As a member of the oldest American-Islamic organization — the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community — I wish to express my reverence on this occasion for Jesus, son of Mary and the prophet of God.

Jesus Christ, whose birth Christians celebrate on Christmas, is also a revered and respected figure in another religion — Islam. Islam requires Muslims to believe in all messengers of God because the Quran (16:36) states that all world religions were originally from God and their prophets served the peoples' spiritual needs. The current global inter-religious conflict is, therefore, a result of having moved away from recognizing people of other faiths as fellow humans who are the creation of the same one God.
