Both his broadside against Nick Cohen and his very personal and patronising attack against me are not a sign of great diplomacy and they fly in the face of his desire for "a healthy exchange of views".

Ref: Pakistan wants restraint and debate, Letters, January 28.
The ambassador of Pakistan [to Thailand, Sohail Mahmood] is accusing me of language I chose to employ to create a polemic.
Will he please accept that in his original letter, which I referred to, he himself did not mince his words when he attacked journalist Nick Cohen, whom he placated as "a self-appointed moraliser".
Was this just because Mr Cohen expressed views that were to his disliking?
Both his broadside against Nick Cohen and his very personal and patronising attack against me are not a sign of great diplomacy and they fly in the face of his desire for "a healthy exchange of views".
Like his Excellency I am all for healthy exchange of views. So, instead of personal accusations, could he please tell the readers of your newspaper about his views on the following burning issues in his country:
1) The death sentence for the Pakistani woman for blasphemy.
2) The murder of Governor Salman Taseer, who tried to help that poor woman on death row, and the subsequent support for his murderer by a crowd of people showering him with rose petals on his way into court.
3) The persecution of the Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan, whose motto is "Love for All, Hatred for None" and who do not regard jihad as a means for spreading Islam by the sword. So why are they being persecuted in Pakistan? Website: www.thepersecution.org/news/11/wp0119.html .
I would very much appreciate the ambassador's views, in particular if they could be expressed without any more demeaning remarks.
