Police have named eight suspects involved in the riots in Temanggung, Central Java, and five in the brutal killing of three Ahmadiyah followers in Cikeusik, Pandeglang, Banten.
National Police chief assistant Insp. Gen. Sunarko said the police would deploy an internal team to investigate religion-related violence.
Former National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. (ret) Makbul Padmanagara will lead the team, to glean information regarding the Temanggung violence, while Police Internal Affairs chief Comr. Gen. Nanan Soekarna will investigate the Cikeusik incident, Sunarko said.
"In Cikeusik we have questioned 25 witnesses. We have named five suspects. In Temanggung, we grilled 17 witnesses and detained eight suspects,” Sunarko said Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
