Tema, Nov 6, GNA - Maulvi Raghib ul Haq, Greater-Accra Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Movement, has called on Ghanaians to bury their differences and seek peace, love and harmony irrespective of the religious backgrounds for national development.

He also asked Muslims to use the celebration of the Eid-ul-Adha festival to renew their faith in Allah, and lead lives worthy of emulation.

Maulvi Haq made the call at the celebration of the event by members of the Tema branch of the Ahmadiyya Movement in the city on Sunday.

At the Mantey din Primary School Park opposite the Tema Stadium,  Alhaji Adam Abubakar, Tema Regional Chief Imam, led the Muslims to offer prayers to commemorate Eid-ul-Adha.

He condemned the recent affront to Ghana’s socio-cultural values in an attempt by the British Government to impose homosexuality and lesbianism on Ghanaians through economic aid.

Alhaji Abubakar said Islam opposed homosexuality and lesbianism and added that “we can have nothing to do with such dehumanizing and despicable act.”

He asked Muslims and Ghanaians in general to use the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha as an opportunity to inspire them to work harder to improve their standards of living.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifice is celebrated about 10 weeks after Eid-ul-Fitr and it marks the completion of the Holy Pilgrimage to Mecca by Muslims.

The festival commemorates the obedience of Hadhrat Ibrahim, and his son Hadrat  Ismail to the commandment  of Allah.
