The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is returning to Kincardine this Saturday, Jan. 28 for an open house on the "Mother Mary," in a fort to dispel myths surrounding Islam and to explain the differences and similarities to Christianity.
Kincardine Public Library will host the event from noon to 4 p.m. The organizations was in the area last year and earlier this month on similar missions, spreading their "Message of Peace" through a door-to-door flyer campaign.
"We have been promoting peace, condemning terrorism and dispelling myths about Islam as a part of our Nationwide campaign for the past year," said Rizwan Rabbani, national executive director of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association Canada in a media release.
The "Tribute to Mother Mary (An Islamic Perspective)" event is an open house "to promote religious harmony, dispel misconceptions about Islam and most of all to educate people about the status that Islam gives to "Mother Mary" and women in general," the release said. The group will also be in Goderich the same day.
The non-profit, charitable and religious organization is now established in 200 countries, with 65 chapters. Rabbani estimates they've reached upwards of 1.2 million people in 238 communities across Canada with the help of 2,335 volunteers.
