The 28th annual national Ijtema of Majils Khuddamul Ahmadiyya ended recently at the Masroor Senior Secondary in the West Coast Region (WCR). Speaking at the closing ceremony, Baba F Trawally, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at in The Gambia, said the present condition of the world is morally and spiritually deplorable.

He noted that religious matters are not given the attention they deserve, adding that Allah Almighty has made man forget about himself. He lamented that Muslims, particularly the young ones, have adopted behaviours that are foreign to Islam. He added that the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) has said that 'he who imitates another nation, becomes indeed one of them'.

Amir Trawally further lamented that illicit behaviours like gambling, fornication and adultery, the use of intoxicants, disrespect to parents and neighbours and corruption in social and economic dealings have become the order of the day. He stated that as Khuddam (Ahmadi youth) one should be a shinning example of sincerity, truthfulness, dedication, honesty and service to the country. "If we all serve our dear country with love, commitment, and devotion in our different walks of life, the country will continue progressing and prospering. Therefore sacrifice your life, wealth, time and honour for your country as indicated by your pledge," he advised.

For his part, Tahir Ahmad Touray reminded participants about the importance of Salaat, the second pillar of Islam, noting that Allah the Almighty has said in the Holly Qur'an that Salaat protects man from evil and indecency. He observed that we live in a world where evil and indecency have become widespread. He revealed that it is reported in one of the hadiths that, the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) said that the key to paradise is Salaat. He finally urged everyone to pay attention to Salaat, especially the youth, who are prone to succumb to contemporary evils and indecency.
