NORCROSS -- Women's Auxiliary of Ahmadiyya Muslim community's Georgia chapter is holding an interfaith speakers event at the Baitul Baqi Mosque at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The women's group has invited three speakers representing the Christian, Islam and Hindu faiths to celebrate Religious Founders' Day, where people of other faiths are invited to talk about their religion and its founder.
The speakers invited to talk include Caroline M. Kelly, the associate Pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, representing Christianity, Bushra Qamar of Baitul Baqi Mosque, representing Islam, Seema Jani of Chinmaya Mission, representing the Hindu faith, and Arlene Lester from The Temple, representing the Jewish community.
They will each speak about the basics about their faiths, the religions' founders and achievements, the role women play in each spiritual sect, and an overall message to humanity.
The purpose for the event is to "bring different religious communities together, create better understanding of the diversity around us and find the common grounds to work together to promote peace and harmony," said Saima Ahmad of the Women's Auxiliary of Ahmadiyya Muslim community.
After the three speakers take the stage, the floor with be open for a question and answer session. Dinner is served shortly after with both English and Indian food.
The event is free for ladies to attend and all faiths are welcomed. Baitul Baqi Mosque is located at 6113 Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross. To reserve a spot or for more information, email waamcga@gmail.com.
