Jakarta: Spokesperson of FPI (Islamic Defender Front) Munarman refused to respond to the allegations of the Ahmadiyah community in Tasikmalaya, West Java, that FPI members were involved in the attack on the Baiturrahim Mosque yesterday.
“I live in Jakarta, I don't handle Tasikmalaya,” he said when contacted by Tempo via telephone, Saturday, April 21, 2012. Munarman commented in an indifferent tone. According to him, the inquiry regarding FPI's involvement should be made to the local head or Chairman of Ahmadiyah Tasikmalaya, Nanang, as a person who first mentioned FPI's involvement. “Ask the regent, or ask Nanang, what evidence they have,” he said.

A number of the mosque facilities were severely damaged in the attack. The mass damaged windows and the door by using wooden bats and rocks. They even torched the carpet inside the mosque but the fire was eventually put out. Chairman of Ahmadiyah Tasikmalaya, Nanang suspected the involvement of FPI in the incident. “Eye witnesses saw people wearing FPI attributes,” he stressed.
