Pakistan: Blasphemy accused sent to jail

Karachi: A blasphemy suspect, who was lodged at the Temuria police station the other day, was sent to jail on Monday.
The accused, Saleem, was produced before the judicial magistrate (Central), who sent him to the Central Prison.
SHO Kamal Naseem said the accused was a drug addict and had been living alone in a flat in Ali Heights situated in Block N of North Nazimabad.
He had allegedly torched a copy of the Holy Quran on Sunday, following which police arrested him on the complaint of some residents of the area and lodged an FIR under Section 295/B.

The SHO said that during the attack “target killer” Yaseen got a chance to slip from the police lock-up. He said that Yaseen was involved in a number of target killings in the city.
