Chino,California: The Los Angeles-East Chapter of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community hosted an interfaith exhibition of holy books June 9 at the Baitul Hameed mosque in Chino, Calif.
According to a press release, nearly three dozen women, representing the Chino mosque; the Unity Church of Truth; Temple Ami Shalom; the Chinmaya Mission; the Nithanyananda Vedic Temple; and the Sikh Gurudwara, attended the Saturday afternoon event.
Everyone participated with a spirit of inquisitiveness and fellowship as they presented the holy books of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Sikhism. Each religion had a table where they displayed their book of scripture and related materials, and members of each faith were on hand to provide free literature and answer questions.
The event was enjoyed by all and deemed a great success. More in depth conversation about various religions and their scriptures ensued over a vegetarian lunch meal, which was served after the attendees had visited all the faiths’ informational displays. The proceedings lasted about two hours.
An English translation of the Holy Quran with a short commentary was presented as a gift to an attendee who wished to read it. Another lady requested a book of select traditions in Islam, called “Hadith,” and she was given a copy of “Forty Gems of Beauty,” which contains 40 narrations of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with brief commentary.
Several attendees expressed their desire to participate in holding future interfaith events on a regular basis, said the release.
