A delegation of the Liberal Party of Canada visited Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, at the Baitul Islam Mosque in Peace Village, Vaughan on 4 July 2012.

The visiting delegation included Justin Trudeau MP, son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and former MP Navdeep Bains.

Justin Trudeau MP, who many view as a future Prime Minister, said it was an honour to meet His Holiness. He said that in his particular constituency there were more than a dozen Mosques and a significant Muslim population. He said that he was working to eliminate all forms of ‘Islamaphobia’ and to promote integration.

Speaking about the issue of integration, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Islam is an open religion which teaches mutual respect. And so if you are a true Muslim you should be willing and able to integrate in any part of the world.”

His Holiness also explained that true Mosques were open for all people to come and worship if they desired.

Navdeep Bains also thanked Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad for meeting with him. He informed His Holiness that there was a strong Sikh community in Canada many of whom were based in British Columbia and Ontario. Briefly conversing in the Punjabi language, he also briefed His Holiness about his family background.
