India: BJP asks State to register criminal cases against Akbar Owaisi

Hyderabad, December 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday demanded that the State Government register criminal cases against MIM floor Akbaruddin Owaisi for making derogatory remarks against the Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP State president Kishan Reddy alleged that the Akbaruddin Owaisi has been making provocative speeches in different public meetings which could disturb the communal harmony in the State. He said that the State Government should have registered suo motto cases against the MIM leader while initiating criminal proceedings against him.
Kishan Reddy said that he would give a representation to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and leaders of other political parties seeking their intervention to seek stern action against the MIM leader. He also threatened to take legal action by approaching a court of law.
He said that the State Government could write to the Election Commission seeking de-recognition of MIM while requesting the Assembly Speaker to annul the membership of Akbaruddin Owaisi form the Legislative Assembly. (INN)
