Spain: World Muslim leader inaugurates 2nd mosque built by 'followers of the Muhammadan-Massiah'

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Spain sees the opening of their second mosque in few days.

The newly built Baitur Rahman Mosque, located in the Pobla de Vallbona, in North Valencia will be inaugurated on Friday, March 29th 2013.

Baitur-Rahman Mosque is preceded by Basharat Mosque, built about 30 years ago by the Ahmadiyya Muslims of Spain in Pedro Abad, Córdoba.

The opening will be chaired by the Khalīfa of lsam and the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat  (His Holiness) Mirzā Masroor Ahmad.

His Holiness Ahmad is traveling from the community’s headquarters in London for this historical mosque opening.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was the first to build a mosque in Spain in September 1982 after centuries-old prohibition was lifted by the government.

During his previous visit to Spain in 2005, Hadhrat Ahmad had indicated his wish for building additional mosques in the country.

“I felt very strongly in my heart that immediately after the 500-years long prohibition was lifted in this country, the Ahmadiyya community built a mosque here, however it has been 25 years since then,” His Holiness had reminded the community during his visit eight years ago. “Now is the time for the brightly-lit minarets of the mosques built by the followers of the Muhammadan–Massiah should be seen all over in Spain.”

According the community’s website the newly build mosque has a capacity of accommodating up to 600 worshipers.

The mosque is built with donations from the local members of the Ahmadiyya community in Spain and with addition support received internationally, the community website further disclosed.
