The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Thailand held its 12th Annual Convention on 29-30 March 2013 at Manhattan Convention Hotel Navanakorn (Pathumthani) Thailand.

The theme of this year’s event was world peace and attainment of high moral standards that a Muslim should posses. Nearly 400 adherents of Ahmadiyya Muslim faith participated in this religious event. The organizer highlighted the aim of the event , “so that members may derive religious benefits and acquire more knowledge to advance their relationship with Allah Almighty.” The proceedings of the event initiated by reciting verses from the Holy Quran followed by the message of His Holiness Mirza Masroos Ahmad, worldwide spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He stressed on the need that “Muslims are expected to set highest example of goodness, honesty and integrity”. He quoted one of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad that “a Muslim is one from whose hands and tongue other Muslims are safe”. He interpreted that “this does not only apply to fellow Muslims, but in fact it means that every peaceful person should be safe from a Muslim’s hand and tongue, irrespective of his faith and beliefs”.

“This is because Islam teaches respect for other religions and their holy founders including for example, Krishna, Moses, Jesus, Confucius and also Buddha (peace be upon them all). His holiness Ahmad (1835-1908), the Promised Messiah and the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam was of the view that Buddha (peace be upon him) had a divine mission of guiding people towards the truth through goodness.”

His holiness further reminded to the participants that “for Ahmadi Muslims living in Thailand, and in other countries, you should remember that Islam teaches complete loyalty to the country where you reside and requires you to contribute to the progress of that nation and betterment of the people”.

Other speakers spoke on topics ranging from ‘World Peace and Individual’s Responsibilities’, ‘Truth’, ‘Sacrifices for Fellow Human Beings’. The proceedings were conducted in Thai, Malay and English.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, it spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Its current headquarters are in the United Kingdom. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the foremost Islamic organization with a central spiritual leader.
