An Ahmadī Muslim, Asif Dawood, is listed in a critical condition after attacked as part of a vicious murder attempt in Nawabshah, Sindh, Pakistan.

The victim was returning home when he was shot at and badly injured by unknown men riding on motorcycle(s), it is reported.

Victim was taken to NawabShah hospital where doctors immediately operated on him to stabilize his condition.

According to witnesses, a large number of well-wishers, including members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya) and fellow non-Ahmadī lawyers gathered at the hospital to offer blood for the victim during the long surgery, an Ahmadiyya Times source has reported.

Mr. Dawood was later transferred to a hospital in Pakistani port city of Karachi for further care where he is listed in a very critical condition with serious damage to his liver.

It is of note that Mr. Dawood, a lawyer by profession, is the son of late Seth Mohammad Yousuf, who was shot and killed in 2008 after a fatwa was issued on a notorious live television show, Alim On Line’ on GEO TV, anchored by a flamboyant televangelist, Aamir Liaqat Hussain.

A group of self-proclaimed Islaimst scholars, including the anchor himself, were seen pronouncing Ahmadī Muslims as Wajib-ul Qatl (worthy of being killed) which resulted in killings of two renowned Ahmadis in Sindh area.

Late Seth Muhammad Yousuf, an acknowledged outstanding citizen of the area, was the head of the local Ahmadiyya community and ran a local grocery store.

Mr. Saleemud Din, spokesperson for Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya Pakistan, confirmed the incident in a press release issued earlier today.

The city of Nawabshah - now named Benazirabad to commemorate the late prime minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto - “saw extreme & vicious campaign of hatred against Ahmadiyya community during last government tenure,” Mr. Saleemud Din wrote in a social media post.

“The most important part of this whole drama is that none of the killers have been apprehended or there have been attempts to apprehend them,” Mr. Saleemud Din further said.
