UK: Coventry community group celebrates its centenary

Coventry community group, Ahmadiyya Muslims, celebrated their centenary in Foleshill.

Ahmadiyya Muslims invited civics guest to join their centenary celebrations in Foleshill.

Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Gary Crookes was chief guest at the event to mark 100 years since the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association was established in the UK.

The theme of the event was to highlight and share charity and community work being carried out by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in the light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Coun Crookes was accompanied by his wife Shirley, while other guests included Revd Hanna Woodall from St Paul’s Church and Coventry councillors John Mutton, Mal Mutton, Abdul Salam Khan and Linda Bingham.

The event started with the recitation of Holy Quran and welcome address by the local president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in Coventry, Mumtaz Malik.

Coun Crookes gave a speech in which he acknowledged the commitments of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s support to local and national charities with their motto ‘Love for all, hatred for none’ and their belief for loyalty, freedom, equality, tolerance, respect and peace for other faith.

He also awarded certificates to Donna Stokes (head of British Heart Foundation Midlands) and members of local police, Coventry Inter-Faith Group and fire services in recognition of their services to the community.

Coun Crookes and other guests received a gift on behalf of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association which were presented by the community’s regional president Dr Muhammad Ashraf.

Keynote speech was give by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s regional missionary Maulana Abdul Gaffer who highlighted the noble life and character of Prophet Muhammad.
