A team of Humanity First United Kingdom (HFUK) volunteers have recently donated cash, educational material and clothes to over fifteen schools and communities across the country. The donated materials which include: laptops, footballs, text books, stationery, uniforms, shoes, among others, were distributed during a tour of the selected schools and communities across the country.

At Mbullum, the team met school children and teachers and distributed uniforms, stationery, footballs, second hand clothes and shoes. The items were received by Anthony Touray, vice principal of the school, on behalf of the principal, Karamo Touray. Receiving the materials, the vice principal expressed gratitude to the donors, noting that the donated materials are useful and highly valued, and assured that the materials would be put to good use. For her part, the head of the delegation, Razia Amini, expressed delight at the warm reception that accorded her and her team, and informed that they had collected the said materials for the poor and the needy, especially school children.

From Mbullum, the team proceeded to Ndungu Charren Upper Basic School, where they arrived to a raptuous welcome. School children and a cross-section of the community had lined up the school entrance, drumming, singing and waving to welcome the team. Handing over the materials to the head teacher, Razia Amini expressed gratitude to the warm welcome and emphasised that the support is also meant to allow the needy to be self-reliant. Ousman E Chorr, head teacher at the school received the items and expressed delight at what he called a benevolent gesture geared towards attaining good and quality education for the poor and the needy. He thanked Humanity First and the team of volunteers, whom he described as true friends of Gambian school children in general and Ndungu Charren in particular. "We are so happy to receive you here and thank you for your benevolence," he remarked.

Njagga Sarr, Alkalo of Ndungu Charren village, welcomed the team, thanked Humanity First and urged other non-governmental organisations to emulate them. The Alkalo concluded by highlighting what he called the development priority areas of his community, which include: provision of clean and safe drinking water, gardening facilities, proper road network, a milling machine, labour room and ambulance services. At Jarumeh Koto Basic Cycle School, the team was received by the head teacher, Bawayinka Darboe, who like the authorities in the previous schools visited, expressed gratitude to Humanity First and the volunteers. The team proceeded to Sankulay Kunda Lower Basic School where they met the head teacher, Hamadi ML Jawneh, staff and pupils of the school. There too, the school welcomed the team with traditional dance and a masquerade and the community equally expressed delight at the visit of the Humanity First team. Dring the presentation of the materials at Sareh Luba Lower Baisc School, cluster monitor of the area, Baldeh, described the gesture as timely, noting that the support will go a long way in helping the government of The Gambia realise its objective of providing access to quality and standard education, as well as the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of providing universal access to primary education by 2015. At Wellingara Basic Cycle School, the principal of the school, Momodou Faye hailed the effort of the donors, describing it as heroic. "You are good friends of Gambian schools, especially Wellingara Ba Basic Cycle School. You are helping to create a brighter future for young Gambian children," he said.
