Sierra Leone: Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Bags Presidential Gold Award
In an exclusive interview with Saeed-Ur-Rehman, Amir and Missionary he disclosed that since he took over the mission in 2004, the Mission has improved greatly in the areas of discipline, gentleness and decency and has also tried to unite all sects of Muslims.

To mark the Country’s 52nd Independence Anniversary, it has graciously pleased His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone to recognize the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Sierra Leone, at a well attended ceremony at State House on Saturday 27th April 2013. The Citation reads “In recognition of its long and outstanding contribution to the nation in the fields of Education, Health, Agriculture and Humanitarian Activities.”
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat was established in Sierra Leone in 1937 and since its inception it has contributed a lot to National Development especially in building Schools and Hospitals.
In an exclusive interview with Saeed-Ur-Rehman, Amir and Missionary he disclosed that since he took over the mission in 2004, the Mission has improved greatly in the areas of discipline, gentleness and decency and has also tried to unite all sects of Muslims. He said that the constitution of the Mission do not allow anyone to go into hostility and demonstration, but to settle disputes with mutual understanding and friendly discussions, though some Muslim scholars are hostile to them, they do not react in the same way that is why the whole world knows their slogan which is “love for all hatred for none”.
Saeed-Ur-Rehman said the Mission has built over 300 mosques, mission houses, schools and is now focusing on agriculture and can now boast of huge cassava, groundnut and rice farms. They are helping thousands of students to further their education by giving out scholarships. The establishment of a radio station, missionary training college to send the message of love and tolerance and preaching Islamic messages according to the Prophet.
He quotes…’ If we want to please the creator we should be kind to the creator’, this could be done through efforts to national peace which is why the Ahmadiyya mission is a member of the inter-religious council and the forum of Islamic organization. He added that he is appreciative of his Excellency’s gesture and on behalf of the community express his thanks, and believe this will serve as a motivation for them to contribute to national development and peace, he disclosed plans for tertiary institutions, help for the needy, Health services with 3 hospitals that are functional, the establishment of mobile camps and has received several well wishing messages from Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
