Perspective: Jinnah wasn't what Jinnah is being made out to be...

TFT has been converted into a mouthpiece for Majlis-e-Ahrar propaganda and lies by Ishtiaq Ahmed; A great tragedy one would try to rectify.

In his third installment of "Splitting India", writer Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad has carried on with what the newspaper, The Friday Times, has dubbed as "his myth-busting series." However, a number of erroneous statements, unfair insinuations, and misrepresentations of history were immediately alleged and the article did not sit will with one Jinnah expert, Yasser Latif Hamdani of Pakistan.

As soon as the Dr. Ahmad's article appeared on October 4, 2013, in The Friday Times, Mr Hamdani, a staunch advocate of a secular Jinnah, immediately took his rebuttal to the micro-blogging website, Twitter, and shot out a brief overview of what Mr Hamdani said would appear later as a corrective of Dr. Ahmad's inaccuracies. (As of this writing the Mr. Hamdani's response has already appeared at Pak Tea House blog and we will post it separately in few hours.)

This is not the first time that Dr. Ahmad has run afoul the ever-watchful eye of Mr. Hamdani for all things Jinnah. In the past Mr Hamdani has posted a series of write-ups aimed at correcting Dr. Ahmad's version of history.

The following are a stitched-together verson of 'tweets' which had appeared in Mr. Hamdani's Twitter timeline.

So Ishtiaq Ahmed continues his Myth-making and Anti-Ahmadi narrative in the TFT [The Friday Times]. I will let the old man finish and then respond.

But for those who are wondering, 99.9 percent of what Ishtiaq Ahmed writes is a distortion of history.

He seems to be a protégé of Aga Shorish Kashmiri school of thought.

I just feel sorry for the dumbasses who take his version of history as anything but his propagation of Majlis-e-Ahrar style lies.

…[T]he Ahrar version of history is even more insidious than our officially bigoted history. I will respond in full.

TFT has been converted into a mouthpiece for Majlis-e-Ahrar propaganda and lies by Ishtiaq Ahmed; A great tragedy one would try to rectify.

I am especially disappointed that Ishtiaq Ahmed chose to attack Sir Zafrulla repeatedly when the facts are entirely different.

As for adult franchise... had Ishtiaq done his research he would know that League had adopted a resolution much earlier than 1940.

Sir Zafrulla's contributions to the betterment of Muslims' lot in India are recognized by all. Why reduce him to a caricature of a gopher?

The real conflict was within Muslims - those who wanted worldly things like jobs, share in power economics etc. i.e. League- and the mullahs.

Gandhi and Nehru are basically irrelevant except that they chose to support the latter in an internal conflict.

So, in short, this debate is only just beginning. The one who laughs last laughs the best.
