THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Community here has supported 80 widows at Viwandani wards in Dodoma Municipality with foodstuffs for iftar.

The Community’s Central Zone Sheikh, Bashart ur Rehman Butt said that the donation, which comprises foods such as rice, sugar and beans aims at helping the widows who are poor during this month of Ramadan.

He said that the community has decided to extend their support to the widows in question, given the fact that most of the women who have lost their husbands have been left without help and were going through difficulties in making ends meet.

The Sheikh also advised other organisations and individuals to channel their assistance to people with special needs in the spirit of helping fellow citizens to lead a better life.

Sheikh Butt noted further that the community has set priorities in supporting people with special needs including orphans and widows especially in this holy month of Ramadan.

One of the widows, Ms Hadijah Mwinyiaym, spoke on behalf of fellow widows, thanking the community, saying that other organisations should emulate the spirit.

“There are so many people in this region who need support. Other communities have failed to extend various services such as health, education, clothing and even food they need,” she said.

The Viwandani Ward Councillor, Jafari Mwanyemba called on beneficiaries of the donation to be sincere and use the aid for intended purposes.
