GLASGOW young people were out on the streets in the west end at the weekend picking up litter.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community were doing work as part of their Neighbourhood Improvement Initiative in Haugh Road, Blackie Street and Overnewton Street.

A total of 52 young people took part, said organisers, with the message “Clean Glasgow, It’s Our City - Play Your Part”.

Muslim youth leader Ahmed Owusu-Konadu said “It's really great to see our youth always doing these charitable deeds because as Muslims it's part of our faith to give to the community that we belong.

“The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association have approached Community Safety Glasgow and have taken ownership of Haugh Road, Blackie Street, Overnewton Street and Square as places they would clean regularly as part of giving to the community they belong to and making it very clean for all Glaswegians."
