Led by the area missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Chandigarh, Imam Samiur Rahman, a dozen members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Majlis Khuddam-ul Ahmadiyya, participated in a park clean-up program at Rose Garden and Shanti Kunj garden.
The program dubbed as Waqar-e-Amal (dignity in labor) took place on Sunday, March 22, 2015 and began immediately after congregational morning prayers.
World famous Rose Garden and Shanti Kunj garden of Chandigarh, despite several measures for cleanliness from municipal authorities, the both parks are often found littered with waste papers, polythene bags, wrappers and other such refuse items.
The Waqar-e-Amal program was in following the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' (Clean India Mission), an initiative rolled out by the government of India covering thousands of towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country.
The national campaign was launched in October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself cleaned the road.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community cleaned up the garden and played their part in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' campaign.
As cleanliness is considered part of the faith, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community regularly launches campaigns for social and civic works at many places.
