Nigeria: Buhari should stand firm against corruption, says Ahmadiyya leader

The leadership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria has urged the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to stand firm against corruption and other vices plaguing the country, as he hits the ground running for positive change towards socio-political and economic turnaround of Nigeria as from May 29, 2015 when the new government is inaugurated.
This admonition was contained in a statement at the end of the national executive committee meeting of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat at its headquarters in Lagos.
According to the Head (Amir) of the Islamic organisation, Dr. Mashuud Adenrele Fasola, “we admonish that the incoming regime should stand firm in the pursuit of truth, social justice and fair play, probity, transparency, accountability, security of life and property, in the combat of insurgency, barbarism, and violation of human rights, and in the eradication of poverty and promotion of welfare for the generality of all without any discrimination whatsoever in all sincerity and in principle and practice.
"The Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Nigeria believes that this is the only way to enjoy the protection, favour and special blessings of God of all creations," the statement reads. The organisation called on Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for God’s forgiveness, perfect protection, excellent guidance, sound health, and long blessed life of service to humanity for the President-elect and other elected leaders.

It also remembered Nigerians who lost their lives during the campaigns and the elections and called on government to cater for the welfare of the orphans, widows and the injured.
Annual convention of Ahmadiyya Youths begins The yearly convention of the youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Nigeria began yesterday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
With Role of Youth in Nation Building and National Development as theme, the highlights of the three-day event include special lectures, in door games, medical camp, community development project, among others. Every year, Ahmadiyyah Muslim youths gather to discuss issues relating to global peace, unity, youth and national development in different locations across Nigeria.
