Pakistan's self-proclaimed 'religious scholar' and Geo TV's colorful televangelist, Amir Liaquat Hussain and his wife have gotten their higher education credentials from Axact, a recently busted fake diploma mill, many in Pakistani news media have reported.
The news was leaked as the Pakistan's Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) raided Axact’s Karachi and Rawalpindi offices seizing company’s main file servers and exposing that 'the fake company has issued fake degrees' to the infamous anchor, reported a private TV channel, ARY.
The news, confirmed by the FIA according to ARY TV, went viral within no time.
Allegedly, Amir Liaquat was issued Bachelors and Masters degrees in History from 'Ashword University' while his wife Bushra Liaquat received her MBBS degree in Medicines from 'Belford University'.
According to The News Teller website, Amir Liaquat Hussain became furious while talking to ARY News warning them to think before 'breaking this news,' and threatened a lawsuit.
Hussain - who is reportedly known to hold Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees from another online diploma mill, Trinity University - claimed he has another Masters from Urdu University in Islamic History and asserted "I have no need to get [anymore] degrees."
It is unclear where the 'Urdu University' is located that Hussain may have attended.
Amir Liaquat defended his wife saying she "has an excellent educational record."
