PORT HOPE -- A Port Hope open house aimed to demystify the teachings of Islam.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association held the Holy Quran Open House to Demystify Islam at Port Hope Public Library - Mary J. Benson Branch on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association said the group categorically condemns terrorist attacks, including those last month in Paris, adding terrorism has never been and will never be part of the teachings of Islam. Groups such as ISIS are a danger to all of humanity and the whole world, said Noman Khalil, national executive director, department of faith outreach for Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
In response to the Paris attacks on Nov. 13, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association started a nation-wide campaign including 135 open houses, and 270 visits to more than 35 towns all across Canada, in an attempt to spread peace, demystify Islam and create religious harmony.
